AMERICAN IDOL: THE ARMCHAIR JUDGE
The lowdown on Motown
The Final 10: Top Row left-right: Camile Velasco, Fantasia Barrino, Jon Stevens, Jasmine Trias, Jon Peter Lewis, La Toya London and Jennifer Hudson. Bottom row left to right: Amy Adams, George Huff and Diana Degarmo. (FOX)
Guest judges Ashford and Simpson were back tonight. We like guest judges, but the Armchair Judge thinks she should be the only official guest judge. We're hoping to get an invite to judge one of the final shows, so if you know anybody at FOX, please share this information and push for an expense account.
Matthew, America voted you out last week and, frankly, I'm surprised. Don't get me wrong, I don't think you deserved to be in the top 12 to begin with, but I underestimated America's taste for good music. I was sure they'd keep you along because you look good. Let's see if the others that I thought would go can make it past tonight. Motown hmmm, how will you do tonight?
Camile Velasco: You most definitely will be going home tonight. You just don't have a strong enough voice. It's tough to go first, but I already know that others will be better tonight. You should have been better. Redials: 2 of 5
Jon Peter Lewis: Not sure if that jacket works for you, but you look like you are having a great time and you showed your JPL side. Not a great performance, but I still think that we haven't seen the best of you yet. Might be good for you to be in the bottom three tomorrow night so you get the sense that you need to try just a little harder. Redials: 3 of 5
La Toya London: Extensions: You look different every week. They look good, but I almost don't recognize you. Not a good thing because you are one of the best in the competition. Very classy performance. Excellent. Redials: 4.5 of 5
Amy Adams: Finally, a pick me up song, "Dancing In The Streets." You look good and did a good job with this song. At least you are listening to the judges each week andit shows. I don't think you look like Jay Leno or his sister. Redials: 3 of 5
John Stevens: This is hard for me to say, but John your performance tonight was hard to watch. This may be the end of the road for you. If I didn't think you had a fantastic, absolutely amazing, once-in-a-lifetime voice, I would have muted you. You are so young, but I think that you definitely have the potential to get a record deal once "they" figure out what you should sing. You just need some coaching. Redials: 1 of 5
Jennifer Hudson: You did your usual good performance. Nothing special. I'm not sure if I like how deep you can get your voice to go. I think you'll stick around this week because there are others who aren't doing as well. Redials: 3 of 5
Let's take a break for a sec. What's going on tonight? No one is "on." This is the top 10, folks. Don't you remember sitting, standing in line, camping out and waiting for your chance? You are slowly blowing it. I may need to start calling in right now just so some of you can get a couple of votes.
Jasmine Trias: You look absolutely fantastic: pulled back hair, and those cool, zippered, silky capris with black heels. And you are showing confidence like a true American Idol. Great job. Take note people, when you look good you sing better. Redials: 4 of 5
Diana DeGarmo: What's up with the Dixie Chicks' hair? Let it down. This is not a good song. Think about it, you are singing, "I can mash potato" on national television. I don't know what was up with the other judges though, loving it and all except Simon, thank you Simon for keeping it real. This was just not "American Idol." Redials: 3 of 5
Fantasia Barrino: We like it when you do your Fantasia thing, walking like you do, skipping around. And, girl, you can work the stage, getting in with the band. You just look like you've done this professionally for years. Simply fantastic. Redials: 4.5 of 5
George Huff: Why are you holding a towel in your hand? It was distracting. You've got the stuff, but I think you've done better. But, you still did an excellent job. Redials: 3 of 5
Bottom three? Camile, John and Jon. Jon should go home based on the performance, but Camile will. This competition is making one thing clear, there are two divas here: Fantasia and La Toya.
