Preston Feather Building Centers will honor the memory of former information systems director Larry Zaika at its annual blood drive 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, at the American Red Cross building in Petoskey. Zaika passed away in November following an illness.
A continuing feature of Preston Feather's blood drive is a friendly competition between the Harbor Springs and Petoskey stores. The challenge this year is to make a chili that Larry would especially like. Kent Strawderman of Petoskey will pit his chili recipe against Jim Brown's of Harbor Springs. The blood donors will decide.
Beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, and while supplies last, staff from Preston Feather will dish up sample bowls of these two chili recipes, along with the traditional cookies and juice offered after blood donations.
