Nothing says New England like squashing the juice out of some freshly harvested apples. The New Canaan Nature Center celebrates this tradition on Saturday with Cider Saturday, where kids can learn how cider is extracted from the apple as well as other outdoorsy culinary activities like churning butter, baking apples over a fire pit and roasting corn. There will also be harvest-themed crafts, a pumpkin scavenger hunt and our favorite — an apple slingshot.
