Arshile Gorky was a 20th Century American master painter who had a major influence on Abstract Expressionism. Modern-day Brooklyn artist Nancy Drew uses acrylic, glitter and flocking in a nod to Gorky and others with her own fuzzy, feminine, irreverent interpretations. Artist Carolanna Parlato creates cosmic, organic abstractions with layers of bold, playful, colored acrylics. The two will share a joint exhibit called Then and Now which opens at Amy Simon Fine Art this Saturday evening.
