Big question: Gawky 13-year-old Benjamin Fiedler (Daryl Sabara) uses his impending bar mitzvah to mend the relationship between his estranged grandfather (Garry Marshall) and Hollywood agent dad (Jeremy Piven). Is this comedy inspired by Piven's role as Ari Gold on "Entourage?

Skip it: A pleasant coming-of-age story is too often brushed aside for goofy shtick involving grandpa and his younger, hippie girlfriend (Daryl Hannah). The movie presents valid discussions of personal and religious identity, but it does little to show Benjamin actually understands them.

Catch it if: You're ranking the year's most appalling onscreen male nudity. Marshall skinny-dipping easily unseats Terry Bradshaw's nakedness in "Failure to Launch."

Bottom line: From sampling your parents' liquor cabinet to crushing on the Hebrew school babe, "Keeping Up with the Steins" has touchingly real elements of growing up and growing up Jewish. Unfortunately--and this may remind you of your own childhood--the Steins' jokes are so lame that you'll quickly need a break from spending time with them.

Bonus: If you indulge in the guilty-pleasure extravagance of "My Super Sweet 16," you'll love a bar mitzvah featuring a yarmulke-wearing whale jumping through a giant Star of David.
