  5. Lunch for $10 or Less: Shapiro's Cafe

Shapiro's Cafe was a little erratic when it opened. Its hours of operation seemed whimsical, and the staff sometimes acted surprised when customers walked in.

So I feel pleasantly snooty that I visited <a href="http://findlocal.baltimoresun.com/listings/hummus-corner-owings-mills">Hummus Corner</a> before some of my foodie friends.

Its menu is modeled on a similarly themed restaurant in Baltimore, also called Cazbar, which is owned by a friend. If the two have their way, you'll see more Cazbar restaurants soon, Helie said.
