North Baltimore enjoys a sense of community. Part of the fabric of today's strong neighborhoods is the number of eateries, places ranging from coffee shops to fine restaurants within minutes of home.

Roland Park did not always enjoy such abundance. Dining out was not what it is today, nor was the range of cuisine. When I was growing up in Roland Park, eight places within walking distance served very basic American fare. Three drugstores had soda fountains with food: Tuxedo Pharmacy, Morgan & Millard, (where Petit Louis is today) and Wagner & Wagner on Cold Spring Lane.
