Davy Arnaud, captain of the Montreal Impact, recently received a death threat after his mistake led to a loss, leading his club and Major League Soccer to file a report with Montreal police.

Arnaud lost control of the ball in a home game June 29 against the Colorado Rapids, who won, 4-3, in stoppage time. Colorado's Chris Klute stole the ball from Arnaud, setting in motion a counterattack that led to the winning goal by Tony Cascio. Arnaud took full responsibility for the decisive play.

“On the last goal, I made a bad decision,” Arnaud said after the game. “I was trying to come inside and make a play. It was the wrong decision. I got caught. It cost us the last goal. I take full responsibility for that.”

Arnaud received a death threat that he retweeted.

The Impact said the police are on the case and hope to interview the person who made the threat.

The club also released a statement: ''The Impact is taking this incident very seriously and will not accept threats of any kind made by individuals in regards to its players, coaches or administrative staff in order to ensure their safety.''
