Teen fans with smartphones at the ready packed in behind the blue carpet at the Wiltern in Los Angeles for the 2014 Young Hollywood Awards on Sunday, eager to catch sight of the newest crop of young celebs and, let’s be honest, score a selfie to share on Instagram.

"The Fault in Our Stars" star Ansel Elgort snagged the bulk of this year’s shouts and screams. For the 20-year-old, who just started acting two years ago before landing a lead role in the young adult book-turned-movie, the reaction is still new.

"At times it can be a bit overwhelming, but at times you have to appreciate. Those people over there are probably really good fans,” Elgort told the Los Angeles Times, casually waving to the people pressed up to the fence behind the blue carpet and sparking new screams. "They probably saw the movie and loved it, so in that way it’s nice."

The first-time nominee left the award show with wins for fan favorite actor and best on-screen couple -- with "Fault" co-star Shailene Woodley –- plus the film took the best-movie trophy.

Heady stuff! But Elgort said he's already gotten career advice from actors with more experience, including "Fault" co-stars Woodley and Willem Dafoe and his "Divergent" costar Kate Winslet.

"Kate Winslet once told me there’s a reason why we’re actors and there’s a reason why people like to watch us on screen, and there’s a part of yourself that is your essence and you keep that sacred," he said. "You don’t give all yourself away, you keep part of that to yourself."

Other stars joining Elgort on the blue carpet included "Fault" costar Nat Wolff, Vanessa Hudgens, Bella Thorne of "Blended," "Orange Is the New Black" actress Danielle Brooks and singer Colbie Caillat, who performed her new single “Try” during the show. The awards were hosted by E! personality Kelly Osbourne.
