The exclusive event was held at the downtown Sutter Club, where prices for a ticket were said to be $500.
People without a ticket hoping to get a look at the vice president only got a short peak – seeing Biden as he exited the club before ducking into his limo only a few seconds later.
Prominent local politicians like Governor Jerry Brown, State Senator Darrell Steinberg and Mayor Kevin Johnson were in attendance. Governor Brown spoke briefly to FOX40, saying he talked to Biden about California’s budget woes.
Brown maintains that negotiations between the state legislature and his office about California’s budget are ongoing. Lawmakers passed a budget $92 billion budget last week, but Brown has yet to sign the bill into law – welfare cuts being the sticking issue.
Biden spoke for a little over an hour at the fundraiser.
Both Obama and his Republican challenger Mitt Romney have said they will be refusing public funds in the upcoming election, making private fundraisers such as this one of extreme importance.
