Sacramento will receive $15 million in funds from the Department of Transportation, which will be matched by $15 million in local funds, to revive the Sacramento Valley Station at the Railyards, according to a statement from Mayor Kevin Johnson on Tuesday.

Johnson thanked President Obama and Secretary Ray LaHood and said "Sacramento will continue to transform our Railyards and build upon the efforts of so many to make us known as the City that delivers on job creation, economic development and big transportation and infrastructure projects."

This is coming after the Rail Line Relocation project, which will be completed this fall.

Secretary LaHood said during a time when gas prices are high, it's crucial to invest in projects to help with transportation.
