YUBA COUNTY—Governor Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency Saturday afternoon as a wildfire in Yuba County burned 900 acres.
The fire broke out shortly after 4:00 p.m. Friday in Bullards Bar near the Bullards Dam. As of 10 a.m. Sunday morning the fire had burned 900 acres of the Tahoe and Plumas National Forests. It is 20-percent contained. Evacuation orders were lifted Sunday morning by the National Forest Service after good progress was made fighting the fire overnight. However, Marysville Road between Oregon Hill Road and Hwy 49 along with previous evacuated roads, remain closed to all non-residents.
Over 400 firefighters, four helicopters, five air tankers, twenty engines and twenty hand crews are assigned to battle the blaze, dubbed the "Bullard Fire." There is a report of one firefighter that was injured, but the extent of their injuries is unknown.
Authorities have not yet been able to determine what caused the wildfire. There is no estimated time of containment or control of the fire.
