It was a big success for the #HereWeRally event at Cesar Chavez Park in Sacramento Thursday evening. A Maloof spokesperson estimated the crowd at over 6,500. Lots of folks wore Kings jerseys, and there was no shortage of purple in the crowd.

Fans saw video of the Sacramento Kings, and heard from Mayor Kevin Johnson, the Maloofs, and past and present Kings players. There was also music.

Guests included Scot Pollard, Doug Christie, the band Tesla, Paul Westphal and community leaders. The Kings dancers and Slamson pumped people up in the crowd.

Radio Personality Carmichael Dave was a driving force behind the rally. Although the event may have started as a grassroots effort for fans to celebrate the Kings, the event became bigger since the announcement the Maloofs will not move the team this fall.

The Kings organization helped to put on Tuesday’s event, with help from the NBA.

The rally went from 5 - 8 p.m.
