California Veterans will have the opportunity to receive free eye exams, glasses and assessments for diabetes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday.

The health services will be offered at the California State Military Museum in Old Sacramento.

Mayor Kevin Johnson is naming May 28th as "Eye on Diabetes Day" in Sacramento.

According to VSP (Vision Service Plan) Vision Care, 2.5 million Californians have been diagnosed with diabetes.

The affect diabetes has on the eyes can be detected through a full eye exam and managed with treatment.

This event is part of the 2012 VSP Eye on Diabetes campaign hosted by Rancho Cordova's VSP Vision Care.

This event will be hosted along with the Second Annual Memorial Day Health Fair, put on by the Sacramento Community Veterans Alliance.
