A ten-year-old boy is dead and a six-year-old boy is missing after the pair were swept away in the Merced River in Yosemite National Park.
A large family hiked from the Happy Isles Trailhead Wednesday afternoon to the Vernal Fall Footbridge. The group then got in the river.
The two young boys were swept downriver by the current.
A park visitor found the older boy about 150 yards away from the group, and started CPR. Rangers continued emergency help, but the child died.
Search crews are still looking for the younger boy along the Merced River.
Yosemite National Park officials say the Mist Trail remains open at this time as rescue operations continue.
The names of the two boys are not being released at this time.
