Details about the 2011 Amgen Tour of California were released Wednesday morning, including the exact path cyclists will take into Sacramento on May 16th.

The race kicks off May 15th in the Sierra. Then on Day 2, the race starts in North Lake Tahoe at Squaw Valley, and winds 133 miles down to Sacramento.

The details of each of the 8 stages are being released each day this week on the Tour's webpage via video segments produced by the host cities of each stage.

This is the fifth year in a row that Sacramento has been a host city. To get there, the participants will follow Highway 89 into Truckee, then up Donner Pass Road before then plunging 7,000 feet in elevation through Sacramento's suburbs into the State Capitol.

Stage 3 will take the cyclists from Auburn to Modesto.

The Amgen Tour of California runs from May 15th-22nd, and will cover more than 800 miles all over the state.
