ANCHORAGE, Alaska—While a host of four-time champions take on the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race this year, the Alaska Zoo is offering a smaller event this weekend for smaller mushers.
The Iditazoo event, scheduled for Saturday from noon to 4 p.m., is intended to be fun, entertaining and educational. Activities range from playing a checkpoint game with prizes to meeting sled dogs and a musher. A story time is slated for 2 p.m., with a howling contest against sled dogs at 2:30 p.m.
The zoo’s winter hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
