WHITTIER -- Firefighters safely rescued a young woman who climbed a 40-foot tree and refused to come down in the Whittier area.
Rescuers with a ladder truck were sent to Whittier Boulevard and Hadley Street about 7:50 a.m. Thursday.
Two firefighters safely brought the girl down within a half hour, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Frederic Stowers.
It was not immediately clear what the young woman was doing in the tree, however, it's believed she may have been upset over some personal issues.
An investigation was being conducted by the Pico Rivera Sheriff's Station, which handles the unincorporated area near Whittier.
