FLOAT THEME:
Hope Grows

Vera Bradley's float for the 2009 Parade is appropriately titled "Hope Grows". Amidst an awe inspiring garden scene of magnificent coloring arises the hope of a cure for breast cancer for women around the world. With magical coloring and with the use of full floral combinations and intricate patterns, a serene garden scene is produced. The floral deck of this entry is set amidst a grouping of yellow and gold strawflower, blue statice, green tea leaves, pink gladiolus, and featuring white and yellow mums. Amongst the flowers Vera Bradley handbags sit atop the bundles of flowers as if to be blooming from the plants themselves. The handbags symbolize an effort for raising awareness to breast cancer. The watering can sits high above the garden showering the garden with hope to allow it to grow and flourish. Funds will be raised to benefit breast cancer awareness through the sales of Vera Bradley's upcoming Spring 2009 "Hope Garden" collection. The collection was exclusively designed to benefit proceeds for the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer. The Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer was founded in 1998 after a very dear friend lost her courageous battle with this disease.

Courage. Compassion. Commitment. These are the words that define the fight against breast cancer. We established The Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer in 1998 after a very dear friend lost her courageous battle with this disease. The 2009 Rose Parade "Hats off to Entertainment" pays tribute to all that is entertainment. It is a celebration of a New Year, bringing together family and friends while simultaneously bringing joy to people everywhere. As we ring in the New Year in 2009 we "celebrate life". "Celebrate life" is a phrase that every person should live by. The "Hope Grows" float pays tribute to those who have survived breast cancer and those who have been touched by the disease. It represents a celebration of life and hope.

It is our goal to encourage people around the world to join in the support of breast cancer and to create awareness of what can be done to fight against the disease.
