TEHACHAPI-- An inmate was found stabbed to death in a prison yard Monday, allegedly by two other inmates who were serving sentences for murder.
Officials at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi say the attack on Evan Broderick, 20 happened out in the open in the prison yard.
The two suspects, Travis Frazier, 26, and Kenneth Nowlin, 29, are both serving sentences for murder at the minimum-to-maximum security prison which houses 5,800 inmates.
Frazier was convicted of first-degree murder out of Orange County and is serving a life sentence without parole and Nowlin is serving a 40-year sentence for a conviction of second-degree robbery and second-degree murder out of San Diego County.
Broderick had been serving a 3-year sentence out of Sonoma County for grand theft.
Prison officials along with the Kern County District Attorney's Office and the inspector general's office are investigating the stabbing death.
No possible motive has been announced.
