THOUSAND OAKS -- Authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who stole an expensive Rolex watch from a jewelry store in Thousand Oaks.
The man, about 18 to 25 years old, walked into the Ben Bridge Jewelers at 450 W. Hillcrest Drive just after 4:30 p.m. on March 22 and sat down next to the Rolex display, according to Ventura County Sheriff's officials.
The suspect was already wearing what appeared to be a Rolex watch, officials said.
He asked an employee to show him a similar watch from inside the diplay case.
The employee placed the new watch on a pad for the man to examine it.
The suspect then took off his own watch, placed it next to the Rolex and quickly took off with both watches, officials said.
Employees chased the suspect as he ran away, but they couldn't catch him.
He's described as a white male, approximately 18-25 years old, 5'7" to 5'11" tall and weighing between 150-180 lbs.
He had brown hair with a military-style haircut and wore a bright yellow polo shirt with stripes, dark jeans and dark shoes.
Ventura County Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest.
Anyone with information in the case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
