RESEDA, Calif. (KTLA) -- Six people were hurt when an elderly woman trying to avoid a collision slammed into a building that houses a dental clinic in Reseda.

It happened around 9:30 a.m. at a strip mall in the 6800 block of White Oak Avenue, near Van Owen.

An 82-year-old woman in an older-model Buick was driving northbound on White Oak when another car made a left turn onto the street.

The woman swerved into the parking lot in an attempt to avoid the car, police said.

The car hit a pedestrian and pinned to employees who were working inside the dental clinic.

One of the employees reportedly suffered two broken legs.

All three were taken to a local hospital, where they were listed in critical but stable condition.

Three other people were treated at the scene and then released.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Authorities say they haven't yet determined if the driver's age was a contributing factor.
