Gayle Anderson was live in the San Gabriel Valley with Rebuilding Together San Gabriel Valley Foothills for a preview of the organizations Saturday, January 14th comedy fundraiser.
For 20 years, the Rebuilding Together San Gabriel Valley Foothills group has rehabilitated the homes of the most vulnerable of our population: the elderly, the disabled, veterans, and low-income families with children at no cost to the homeowner. The organizations hopes to raise enough money to handle a project in 2012 for an employee of the Duarte Unified School District. For years, she has provided a place for students to stay to so they could finish high school. Now, her home desperately needs repair.
By the end of 2009, Rebuilding Together had completed repairs to more than 126-thousand homes, serving more than one-million people with an overwhelming majority of families living at or below the federal poverty line. The Rebuilding Together network of 200-affiliate chapters has conservatively delivered more than 1.2 billion in market value since its' founding.
In addition to their repair work, Rebuilding Together rehabilitates community centers and conducts home modification and repair programs that focus on aging in place, energy efficiency, veteran's housing and disaster recovery and reconstruction.
