Police Increase Patrol After Two Students Killed Over Winter Break

On Monday, police stepped up security around Redlands schools as students returned from a tumultuous winter break that saw two of their fellow classmates killed.
Schools that will see increased police presence are Redlands, Citrus Valley and Orangewood high schools.
According to Redlands police spokesman Carl Baker, officers will assist campus police to patrol the areas surrounding the three high schools before and after school and during lunchtime.
Last week two students from Redlands High School and Redlands East Valley High School were killed and several others were critically injured in a shooting police believe may have been driven by racial tensions.
The shooting was reported shortly after 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the common area of an apartment complex near Oxford Dr. and Post St. in Redlands.
When officers arrived, they found four victims in various locations, all within a block of each other.
The San Bernardino County coroner's office says 17-year-old Quinn McCaleb of Redlands died at the scene and 16-year-old Andrew Jackson of Redlands was pronounced dead at Loma Linda University Medical Center.
The other two victims were hospitalized in critical condition.
Friends identified the surviving boys as Jordan Howard and Tequan Roberson.
A fifth teen was reportedly able to get away unharmed.
The gunman is described as Latino, 17 to 20 years old, between 5-feet-6 to 5-feet-10, and 150 to 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
