PALMDALE -- A man was thrown from a pickup truck and killed while fleeing sheriff's deputies in Palmdale Friday, authorities said.
The crash happened about 7:30 p.m. Friday on Pearblossom (138) Highway near 160th Street East.
Deputies tried to stop the vehicle for an unspecified traffic violation, but Sharp failed to stop, prompting a pursuit.
Deputies lost sight of the pickup, but during a search for the vehicle, they found it overturned, Sharp said.
An investigation showed that the pickup was traveling south on 106th Street East south of Avenue V at a high speed with its headlights off, when it drifted onto the east dirt shoulder, struck a telephone pole and overturned. The driver and one of the two passengers were ejected, she said.
Passenger Kenneth Cooper, 28, of Littlerock, was also ejected, and a second passenger, Alicia Leann Jones, 25, of Lancaster, also was injured, Carter said.
Both were taken to a hospital, she said.
