MALIBU -- Los Angeles County Sheriff's homicide detectives have determined that a man found shot to death inside an exclusive Malibu community took his own life.
Sheriff's deputies were called to a two-home gated community in the 3600 block of Noranda Lane, near Encinal Canyon Road around 7 p.m. Tuesday for a reported shooting, according to Diane Hecht of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.
Adrian Alvidres, who identified himself as the man's roommate and friend of some 20 years, told KTLA that Enkeboll had a tempestuous relationship with his ex-girlfriend and had a restraining order issued to keep her away.
"I think it was just a lot of heated feelings that led to this."
Sheriff's deputies questioned the ex-girlfriend but, as of midmorning,
had said very little about what may have happened Tuesday night.
Alvidrez and others described Enkeboll as a wealthy man who traveled the
world and who had established Enkeboll Foundation to further the arts.
Enkeboll had some recent setbacks at work and with lawsuits, according to Alvidrez. A
good friend of his had just committed suicide, as well, he added.
Enkeboll is reportedly survived by an ex-wife and 6-year-old daughter.
