LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found at a hotel near MacArthur Park.

Police were called to the Olympic Hotel at 725 S. Westlake Boulevard at around 12:30 a.m. Monday.

A woman's body was found inside one of the rooms by the cleaning crew, according to the LAPD.

Authorities said the victim was about 40 years old. Her identity has not been released.

Initial reports said the woman suffered blunt force trauma to her face and head, but the LAPD now says the cause of death is undetermined.

Blood was found near the victim's nose area.

Investigators are waiting for the coroner to determine whether the woman's injuries were inflicted by another person.

The room was registered to a man who checked out Sunday morning.

He is being regarded as a person of interest.
