SOUTH LOS ANGELES -- Two Los Angeles Police Department officers were injured in a crash in the Jefferson Park area of South Los Angeles this morning.
The officers' patrol car slammed into the back of a parked big rig at Western Ave. and 35th Street around 6:30 a.m., causing one officer to become trapped inside the wreckage.
Firefighters used the jaws of life to lift off the roof and help free the trapped officer.
Both officers were transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
Both suffered concussions and one had a broken collar bone, officials said.
It was not immediately known what caused the crash, however, officials
said the cruiser was not responding to a call at the time.
