LOS ANGELES -- Authorities are investigating a drive-by shooting at a 24-hour fast food restaurant in Jefferson Park that left one man dead and a woman wounded.
It happened in the parking lot of Johnny's Pastrami at 4331 W. Adams Blvd. around 1:40 a.m., according to Sgt. Daniel Ellerson of the Los Angeles Police Department's Southwest Station.
The victims, both in their mid 30s, were sitting in a red car when a vehicle rolled up and someone inside fired multiple rounds, Ellersn said.
The assailants then sped off.
The male victim was struck in head and chest and declared dead at the scene, Ellerson said. His name was withheld pending family notification.
The woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds to both arms and was taken to a hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, he said.
No immediate arrests were made, but officers did place another woman in the back of a patrol vehicle. Ellerson said she may have been detained as a witness but that no immediate arrests had been made.
It's not yet known if the attack was gang-related.
