LOS ANGELES -- Two LAPD officers were injured in a crash that ended with the officers' patrol car smashing into a fence along train tracks in Southwest Los Angeles, authorities said.

The patrol car collided with a sport utility vehicle at Seventh Avenue and Exposition Boulevard in the Jefferson Park area around 7:00 a.m. Monday.

The officers' car ended up crashing into a fence alongside train tracks. No train was in sight at the time.

The patrol car had its emergency lights and its siren activated at the time of the collision, said Officer Sara Faden of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section. The officers, assigned to the LAPD's Southwest Station, were on their way to the scene of a reported crime, Faden said.

The two officers suffered minor injuries. The other motorist was not hurt.

The incident is under investigation.
