EL SEGUNDO (KTLA) -- Several dogs that were found dumped on a busy roadway in El Segundo have been adopted, but more are in need of a good home.

Several witnesses reported seeing a white van dump as many as 15 dogs in the middle of oncoming traffic on Imperial Highway at Main Street two weeks ago.

Eight dogs were rescued and taken to local adoption centers during the ordeal, which reportedly lasted as long as 6 hours.

One witness recalled seeing a dog hit by a car and dragged 20 feet.

"I grew up on a farm in Colorado with horses and dogs and cats, and was always around animals, where they get injured or need help, but I've never seen anything like this," Kellie Peters told Cesarsway.com, a website operated by animal rights activist and so called "dog whisperer" Cesar Milllan.

The dog, named Carson, was treated at Brent Air Animal Hospital for internal and external injuries, including a broken rib.

He now has a new family in Orange County. Most of the dumped dogs have been adopted but more are in need of a good home, including Precious who was found two days after the ordeal and is being treated for a broken leg.
