The Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House (LARMH) first opened on Fountain Avenue in 1980 as the third Ronald McDonald House in the world. In 1994, an expansion increased the capacity to accommodate 35 families. In the spring of 2008, the 40 room Lyman Place building opened enabling LARMH to accommodate 75 families, making the LA House the third largest House in the United States. For more information, visit the LARMH website: http://larmh.org/index.php.
If you can't make it out to Rancho Cucamonga or Universal Studios, come out to the Honda Center to support the Orange County Ronald McDonald House. Since 1989, the Orange County Ronald McDonald House has provided more than 10,000 families from all over California, the U.S. and other countries with a comfortable and affordable place to stay. For more information about the Orange County Ronald McDonald House, visit the website at: http://www.ronaldhouseoc.org/.
Registration at the Honda Center is from 7:00 am to 8:00 am. The Walk begins at 8:00 am. The Honda Center will also have a Kids Zone and entertainment from 7:00 am to 10:00am and an awards ceremony from 9:30 am to 10:00 am.
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) began in Philadelphia in 1974, with the establishment of the first Ronald McDonald House. In 1984, Ronald McDonald House Charities is officially established in memory of McDonald's founder, Ray Kroc, who was a strong advocate for children. Designed as a temporary residence for families with a child who is being treated at nearby hospitals and medical facilities, the Ronald McDonald House provides comfortable and affordable accommodations for those families who have travelled great distances to get the medical attention they need. In many cases, hospital treatments may last a day, a month or more than a year, which makes the need for affordable accommodations vital. Thanks to the generosity of volunteers and donors, families pay a small fee of up to $25 per day, depending on the house. The RMHC Global Policy is that families are never turned away if its not possible to pay and in many cases, the fee is waived. RMHC is located in 52 countries and regions.
