Gayle Anderson was live in Los Angeles at Dougherty Laser Vision's Los Angeles Surgery Center for "NEW YEAR, NEW YOU: CONTACT LENS ABUSE."

Dr. Dougherty is a refractive surgeon who serves as medical director of Los Angeles-based Dougherty Laser Vision and as assistant clinical instructor of ophthalmology at UCLA's Jules Stern Eye Institute. He is also one of just 40 surgeons worldwide to serve on the editorial board of the "Journal of Refractive Surgery," the official peer-reviewed refractive surgery specialty journal published by the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).

Dr. Dougherty is quite successful using Lasik to treat the vision problems of patients who have damaged their corneas by wearing contact lenses.

An experienced LASIK and lens implant surgeon, Dr. Dougherty has performed nearly 20,000 laser vision procedures since 1993. In January 1997, he became one of the first opthalmologists in the US to have LASIK performed on his own eyes, therefore he can relate to his patients' concerns over the procedure. In addition, he also performs cataract surgery and other non-laser surgical techniques.

With three locations throughout Southern California in Los Angeles, Camarillo and Santa Barbara, Dougherty Laser Vision offers a free initial consultation and financing options.
