LOS ANGELES -- The U.S. Coast Guard Sunday found a boater from San Francisco that had been lost at sea since Wednesday.

Crews found Sean Haggerty, 39, about 46 miles southwest of San Diego after a full day of helicopter and airplane searches covering hundreds of miles.

Haggerty had been missing since April 1, when he spoke with a friend via cell phone and reported the engine and GPS system on his 26-foot boat -- named Sea Hag -- were not working.

Haggerty was supposed to sail south along the coast from the San Francisco area, stopping at various ports and coastal islands, before arriving in San Diego.

Officials said Haggerty is in good condition and that the boat will be towed or escorted to land by a Coast Guard vessel.
