CARSON -- A 20-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed by a big rig on the border of Carson and unincorporated Rancho Dominguez, authorities said.
It happened around 5:02 p.m. Tuesday as two unrelated bicyclists attempted to cross Del Amo Boulevard, officials said.
The victim was dragged about 100 feet and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released.
The other bicyclist was not injured and walked away from the crash, officials said.
California Highway Patrol officers interviewed the truck driver on Tuesday but he was said to be too upset to provide any reliable information.
Investigators were also interviewing witnesses to determine who was at fault in the crash.
Officers were hoping to determine whether the bicyclists were crossing on a green light, or if the truck driver ran a red light.
