BELL, Calif. -- A 16-year-old student has been shot at a popular burger restaurant a block away from Bell High School.

Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Don Kunitomi says the shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Boulevard Burgers on Florence Avenue.

Witnesses say the teen was shot by someone in a black truck.

The teen was taken to the trauma unit at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood after the shooting, said Los Angeles Fire Inspector Matthew Levesque.

His condition was not immediately known.

But Bell police said the boy is expected to survive his wounds.

No arrests were made.

The restaurant is a popular after school hang-out near the Bell High School campus.
