LOS ANGELES -- Police say a man believed to have been barricaded for several hours overnight after he reportedly shot at a neighbor has gotten away.

SWAT officers fired several cannisters of tear gas into the man's home before storming the residence. When they got in, they did not find anyone inside.

The man was identified as 19-year-old Jose Sanchez. Police say he has a criminal record and is now wanted for attempted murder.

The incident began about 2:40 a.m. Friday near Gramercy and Middleton in Jefferson Park.

Police say they were able to contact the man once by phone, and they were able to get the man's mother, father and girlfriend safely out of the home.

It's unclear what the man and his neighbor were arguing about. The neighbor was not hurt in the shooting.
