ARLETA -- A police pursuit that began in the Wilmington-Arleta area Tuesday morning ended in Arleta with the suspect surrendering peacefully.

The pursuit began at 8:45 a.m. when California Highway Patrol officers tried to stop an unidentified male driver on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway at Carson Street for an unknown traffic violation, according to Lt. Omar Wilson of the CHP.

The pursuit then continued eastbound on the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway and south on the Golden State (5) Freeway, reaching speeds of over 90 miles per hour, according to authorities.

CHP units finally trapped the driver in the driveway of a home on Jouett Street near Van Nuys Boulevard around 9:40 a.m.

Officers forced the suspect out of his car, handcuffed him on the ground and took him into custody.

Authorities have yet released the driver's identity.
