FALMOUTH, Mass. ( KTLA) -- An airbag is being credited with saving the life of a driver who began choking and then crashed his truck in Massachusetts.

Oil tank repairman Richard Silvia was driving on Route 28 Monday afternoon when he popped some raisins into his mouth and began choking.

He passed out and his truck began drifting over the center line.

The truck crashed into at least two other vehicles before coming to stop on an embankment.

Police say the impact caused Silvia's airbag to deploy, which struck him in the face and dislodged the raisin.

No major injuries were reported in the incident.

Silvia suffered a broken wrist and was given a ticket for impeded driving.
