SAN DIEGO—San Diego County's five incumbent congressional representatives all appeared to be handily winning their reelection bids Tuesday night.
With about 60 percent of the votes counted, Republican Darrell Issa had 65 percent of the vote in the race for the 49th Congressional District -- more than twice as many votes as his closest competitor, Democrat Howard Katz.
Democrat Bob Filner held an commanding lead over his challenger, Nick Popaditch, in District 51. Filner had 60 percent of the vote with 41 percent of the ballots counted.
Duncan D. Hunter, the Republican representative from District 52, had almost twice as many votes as his nearest challenger, Democrat Ray Lutz. With more than 60 percent of the ballots counted, Hunter had 63 percent to Lutz's 32 percent.
And in District 53, Democrat Susan Davis held a 24-percent lead over her Republican challenger, Michael Crimmins, with 40 percent of the vote counted.
