"He has a significant foot injury and he's going to miss some time, but we're going to do everything we can to get it evaluated correctly and see if we can get him back on the football field," Kubiak said at his weekly news conference.
Kubiak said Schaub would wear a protective boot on the ankle and visit specialists in Indianapolis and Charlotte to determine his playing status for the remainder of the National Football League season.
Schaub, who has not missed a start since the 2008 season, stayed in the game until midway through the fourth quarter with what was originally thought to be a sprained ankle.
Backup Matt Leinart took over at that point and will start Houston's November 27 game at Jacksonville. The Texans have a bye this week.
