A crackdown on pro-democracy protests is isolating Syria’s president, Bashar al-Assad, with each passing day.

Syria has now been suspended from the Arab league and Jordan’s King Abdullah told a British network al-Assad should step down.

Meantime Turkey, threatened to cut off electricity to Syria, as the European Union moved to extend sanctions against more members of al Assad’s circle.

And Russia’s foreign minister says attacks on government buildings in Syria resembled civil war.

Analysts say the biggest danger ahead, is whether al Assad goes or not, Syria is teetering on the brink of civil war, as opposition elements turn to arms to combat pro government forces.
