Mia Gradney is a native Houstonian who returned home in 2000 to launch news on Houston's Channel 39.

She anchors 39 News at 5, 5:30 and 9. When she's not at the anchor desk Mia can usually be found keeping up with the latest lifestyles, trends, and entertainment. She's worked countless red carpets, interviewing the hottest celebrities in showbiz, including: Oscar winners Halle Berry, Jamie Foxx, and Billy Bob Thornton, as well as Johnny Depp and singers Jessica Simpson, Beyonce, and Dierks Bentley. Mia's also taken viewers behind the scenes of the CW's hit shows, visiting the sets of Smallville, Everwood, Reba, and One Tree Hill. She even appeared in an episode of the Gilmore Girls.

In June 2008 Mia executive produced and hosted "Mia at the Movies," a thirty-minute entertainment special that gave 39 viewers a ticket to the best of the box office.

Mia also covers more serious issues. In 2005 she spent the entire day at Reliant Parks as the first Katrina evacuees were brought by the busloads to Houston. She heard their horror stories and later retold them with great compassion in live reports picked up by Tribune broadcast affiliates across the country.

In 2006 a hard-hitting special report about the widespread abuse of the prescription drug Adderall, on college campuses, garnered her an Emmy nomination for feature news reporting.

Some of Mia's greatest accomplishments have come when she's not in front of the camera. In April 2005 she rode 180 miles, from Houston to Austin, in the BP MS 150 Bike tour to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In 2003 she, and a fellow Dress for Success Houston (DFSH) volunteer, founded Women of Wardrobe, a volunteer/fundraising branch of DFSH. The organization has raised thousands and donated countless hours to help suit up low-income women for success. Mia is also a huge supporter and great friend and fan of M.D. Anderson's Cancer Center's Children's Art Project. In the summer Mia travels with patients to Sea World San Antonio to document their adventure, and in the fall she helps the young artists launch their Holiday cards and gifts. In 2006 she accompanied the group to Park City, Utah to mark the 25th Anniversary of their Ski Rehabilitative program.

Mia has always been a dedicated community member and journalist. Before joining Channel 39 she anchored and produced Good Morning Southeast Texas in Beaumont, while establishing a children's reading program. She also anchored, reported and even sports reported in Victoria. She started her career behind the scenes at Houston's KTRK, following a successful internship.

Mia is a proud graduate of Sam Houston State University with a bachelor's degree in Radio/Television, and is a 2003 inductee of the Sam Houston State Radio/Television Hall of Honor.

In her spare time Mia enjoys yoga, dancing, interior design, cooking, and spending quality time with her Houston friends and family.
