What do you do if you are the Dew and Texas voters said 'boo' to you?
Well, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst says he is not riding off into the Texas political sunset and plans to stay in the saddle and ride this horse, and this tortured metaphor, for another term.
Dewhurst lost badly to Ted Cruz in the Republican senate primary run-off back in July. Cruz got a speaking gig at the convention, while Dewhurst got to talk to the Texas delegation.
Dewhurst’s decision to take another run at staying on the public dole has at least four top Texas Republicans figuring out their next moves.
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, Comptroller Susan Combs, Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson, and Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples, who already has some nifty signs, probably didn't think he would lose to Cruz, but now they see that he’s beatable.
Of course, anything can happen in two years, especially with a legislative session starting in January. Let the games begin!
