Two local Democratic leaders are showing support for the community group ACORN, despite accusations the group committed voter fraud in several states.

"To my knowledge there have not been any problems in Houston," said Rodney Ellis, Democrat State Senator.

Democrat State Representative, Garnett Coleman defended ACORN. He said they cannot be responsible for people who fill out voter registration cards illegally.

However, Harris County Republican Party Chairman, Jared Woodfill, says the community organizing group concentrates its efforts on registering likely Democratic voters, even though the group takes government money and promises to be non-partisan.

Many Democrats say the ACORN investigation is simply an effort to harm Barack Obama, but Republicans say it's long overdue.
