The Texans officially opened training camp, but players don't hit the practice field until tomorrow. One of changes for the Texans this year will be on defense.
"It's a change of scheme. It's a 3-4 scheme, but it's not, you know, something we're not used to. It's still football,” says Texans linebacker Demeco Ryans.
The Texans are raving about adding former Cincinnati Bengal’s defensive back, Jonathan Joseph, and safety Danieal Manning out of Chicago to their team.
"I think the two biggest signings we've had, you know, since I’ve been here. I'm really excited about it. I had a chance to talk with Jonathan at a friend’s wedding this offseason, and he stressed to me how bad he wanted to be here,” says Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson. "I'm very pumped about, you know, having him here and also having Danieal ."
Aside from all of the storylines, one of the most notable is defensive tackle Amobi Okoye , a four-year starter for the Texans being released.
The Bears have landed Okoye's services.
Offensive tackle Eric Winston said, "He was a guy that brought it every game. He was definitely a meaningful part of our offense last year."
It’s a huge loss for Houston, especially since Leach paved the way for Texans tailback Arian foster last season.
Lots of work to get in before the Texans and Jets tangle in their pre-season opener Monday, August 15th at Reliant Stadium.
