Wednesday, a Dallas County jury found the Episcopal School of Dallas grossly negligent in handling an inappropriate student-teacher relationship, awarding the teenage victim and her family $9.3 million in damages.
The female student was a sophomore when the relationship began in 2009 with her teacher, 34-year-old Nathan Campbell.
The jury awarded the victim and her family $8.5 million in compensatory damages, including $1 million for the girl's future loss of enjoyment of life, $1 million for her mental anguish and $350,000 to each parent for their mental anguish.
Another $700,000 were awarded in punative damages, bringing the total to $9.3 million.
