RENTON, Wash. (AP) -—Pete Carroll says left tackle Russell Okung will begin "on-land" running this week and could join practice next week. That means the Seahawks first-round pick will miss next Sunday's contest against San Diego at Qwest Field.
Carroll also downplayed any idea of a quarterback controversy, restating that "Matt's our guy, and we're counting on him. We feel fortunate to have Charlie (Whitehurst) waiting in the wings, but it's not his time yet."
And mistake that continue Seattle's long-standing road woes.
Carroll says that Seattle's 31-14 loss to Denver was the result of what seemed obvious Sunday: horribly timed interceptions thrown by Matt Hasselbeck, a few costly penalties and the inability of Seattle's defense to get off the field on third down.
Hasselbeck threw three interceptions, two deep in Denver territory. The first one, on Seattle's opening drive of the game, was hauled in by Champ Bailey at the Denver 4. Asked Monday where he should have thrown it, Hasselbeck said, "probably row five."
