1. Seniors on the Go: Cities where you might feel comfortable — and where you won't

I usually don't like to report on those "best" or "least expensive" city or airport stories. I figure that if you really want to visit the Louvre, the fact that Albuquerque is less expensive or Seoul has a better airport is irrelevant. But once in a while a "best" list comes along that might actually be useful to you.

  9. Actress favors Hanoi, Seoul as top cities

Diane Farr says she got a late start in traveling and didn't leave the country until she was 15. But since then, the 41-year-old actress ("Californication," "Rescue Me," "Numb3rs") has more than made up for it by traveling all around the world, primarily alone. That exposure to other cultures — as well as her marriage to a man of a different ethnicity — inspired her to write the funny and astute memoir "Kissing Outside the Lines: A True Story of Love and Race and Happily Ever After" (Seal Press, $24.95). Farr lives in Los Angeles with her husband and three young children. Check out getdianefarr.com for information on her latest projects.

  11. Hanoi emerging as a destination for foodies

In Hanoi, soup is a way of life — the connective tissue of Vietnamese culture. With noodles, herbs and sinew, it strings together twisting streets and varied lifestyles. Here the bones, crumpled napkins and squeezed limes that litter the ground beneath tiny plastic tables are symbols of a good meal and a life well lived.

  17. Traveling the country, delicacies always near

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam — By the time my plane landed here, my travel companion, Vung Nguyen, 22 years my junior and a Vietnamese native, was already waiting for me at the hotel pool with her 5-year-old niece. They had brought me a gift from the local market: chom chom, a peculiar but delicious fruit with red porcupine skin and a soft inside.
