  1. Ehrlich asks the wrong question

It's a cloudy rainy dreary morning in Elkton and I'm looking for something to bring a smile, give a laugh or at least a chuckle so I check out The Sun's Sunday commentary section. There I find the column by Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. who appears to be serious...

  3. No nukes for Israel or Iran

Can anyone explain to me why it is OK for Israel to have a nuclear capability and not Iran ("Iran nuclear advances seen," Aug. 24)? Iran has never attacked its neighbors (other than the US-fostered war with Iraq); Israel has attacked all its neighbors...

  5. Obama puts U.S. security at risk

President Barack Obama reacted a few months ago to a question aboutIran's deliberate efforts to develop a nuclear weapon. His reply and how he was going to prevent it was "all options are on the table." That's sort of like imagining General George...

As the world struggles to deal with its two largest foreign-affairs dilemmas, Syria and Iran, resolutely standing in the way are the BRICs.

  11. Is Israel fixing the intelligence to justify an attack on Iran?

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's strong pro-Israel statements over the weekend, including his endorsement of Jerusalem as Israel's capital (a reversal of long-standing U.S. policy), increases the pressure on President Barack Obama to prove that he is an equally strong backer of Israel.

  13. On foreign policy, Romney gets ahead of himself

Regarding your article about Mitt Romney's remarks in Israel, who is he to speak for us ("Romney declares his commitment to Israel," July 30)? Mr. Romney argued thatTehran'sayatollahs "are testing our moral defenses" and monitoring "who will object"...

  15. No good options for Iran

Speculation in Israel about the possibility of a strike on Iran's nuclear program in the coming weeks has intensified, and not just because of Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney's tough talk in Jerusalem. Mr. Romney called for the U.S. and Israel to use "any and all measures" to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons — a position repeated virtually verbatim by U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta when he visited Israel a few days later. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said this week that "time to resolve this peacefully is running out," even as theU.S. Congress was moving forward with new sanctions against Iran's oil industry and the shipping, insurance and banking sectors that facilitate it.

  17. Op-ed takes a too rosy view of Iranian intentions

  19. Romney, Obama move U.S. toward war with Iran

In the race between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, it is instructive to watch how each candidate for president behaves when the subject of Israel is mentioned. Every four years, citizens running for the highest office in this country feel duty-...

  21. President Obama should resist the drumbeat for war with Iran

The drumbeat for war with Iran is getting scarier and scarier ("No good options for Iran," Aug. 2). The situation has escalated now that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has concluded that the recent suicide attack that killed five Israelis in Bulgaria...

  23. The U.S. talks tough on Iran, does nothing

Sun letter writers shouldn't worry that the U.S. is moving closer to war with Iran, since neither President Barack Obama nor Mitt Romney back up their words with action ("Obama should resist the drumbeat for war with Iran," Aug. 6). Secretary of Defense...
